Lagi googling2 kesana sini, tiba2 nemu tulisan dari blogna seseorang yang isinya agak menggelitik buat gw. Rasanya gw pengen highlight beberapa kalimat. Kalo yang mau baca aslinya silahkan klik disini
In Japan, there is a clear difference between an idol who sings and a singer who is an idol. Any singer can be an idol. Actually, most singers are idols. But the concept of an “idol” in Japan is different from just being a target of admiring. Idols are a huge phenomenon in Japan and even if many of them do singing, they are not singers in the first place but entertainers.
Without a question the most popular company producing these “singing idols” today is Johnny’s Jimusho with their numerous successful boybands who girls and women in all ages admire. On girls side there is Hello!Project of course which was born after few successful years of their main act, Morning Musume.
Music of idol groups is often judged because the members aren’t good enough vocalists. But the thing is, your average idol doesn’t have to be good at singing. They are chosen mainly for charisma, whether it comes out while performing or as a great personality. And personality definitely plays a big part in being an idol.
However, they are told to dance at the auditions so they don’t choose people who don’t have any sense of rhythm since that would be against them in several aspects on their idol career.
Of course, there is also the obvious thing – eye candy. Let’s be honest here, who doesn’t like to look at beautiful people? But it’s a wrong assumption to think that all the idol fans are shallow and only see the surface.
